HOMEPAGE OF ADDY DE JONGH
A LIFE FULL OF OTTERS
My name is Addy de Jongh, director of Otterpark AQUALUTRA in the Netherlands.
I became crazy about otters (Lutra lutra) during my study Biology.

I was very lucky to become a student of dr. Hans Kruuk working on otters in Shetland (UK).
There I lived with Penny a young tame otter.
Like Gavin Maxwell I could do anything with her. She walked with me, drove with me in a car and I have been diving with her. I almost became an otter myself.

From this I started Otterpark AQUALUTRA. This NGO is working on the protection of wetlands and otterpopulations throughout Europe.
Within 1 - 2 years we will be able to start a reintroduction of otters in the Netherlands!!!

On the picture you see our State Minister of Environment, mr Jan Pronk, feeding our otter Paul.
The otter is the ultimate symbol for a sound environment. After his visit the Minister became addicted to otters too!!

CRAZY ABOUT PEOPLE TOO
I love to live. I am a great admirer of Gandhi, who was a great believer in freedom, justice, equality and peace for all human beings.
A man of my heart!

I LOVE TO TRAVEL
I love to travel. During my studies and with my former partner I visited many countries of this beautiful world. I am very much impressed by the greatness of Mother Nature's work.
I have been so lucky to visit the Galapagos Isl.; not only to look at nature above the waterlevel, but also below.

Recently I visited the Crimea in the Ukraine. Although people have no easy life there, I was impressed by the hospitality of the people living there.
I stayed in the beautiful city of Sevastopol. There I saw the great panorama painting about the defence of Sevastopol during the awful Crimean War. I was astonished by its beauty, although it showed many cruel scenes. A true masterpiece for sure!!
The lady giving perfect information in clear English added an extra dimension to the explanation of this historical event.
